10_hurt_comfort prompt Fight.
“I have to go, Audrey.” Matt said, holding onto her arms.
“Why? They can do fine without you! I need you here – we need you here!” Audrey cried out loudly. A few tears welled up in her eyes. She quickly wiped them away – she had no need to cry now.
“Audrey, I’ll be back – I promise.” Matt promised, trying to calm his wife down.
“Don’t you dare make promises you don’t know if you’ll be able to keep! Hell, Matt! Why can’t you just stay with us?” A few tears did manage to fall before Audrey could wipe them away. Matt’s heart broke – he didn’t want to go, he didn’t want to leave his wife or unborn daughter, but he had to. The others needed him as well, to save the world – again.
“I’ll be back, Audrey, I have too. There is no way in all of hell will I’ll be kept from you or Haley.” Matt stated, pulling Audrey into a tight embrace – but not tight enough to crush Haley, their unborn child.
“I know… I just. I can’t lose you. We just can’t lose you.” Audrey cried, tears falling – soaking Matt’s t-shirt. “I love you,”
“I know… I love you too – with all my heart and mind.” Matt said, gently rocking her.
Please don’t leave me…
I won’t, I promise.
