Yelena’s sharp eyes studied her from the doorway with a smirk gracing her lips, Kate completely oblivious to the woman standing behind her as she tried to get the dog to roll over.
“Come on Lucky! You’ve done this before, why won’t you do this now?” Kate muttered, huffing in frustrating at the happy dog in front of her. As Lucky’s tail continued to wag in excitement, Kate finally noticed that his attention was pulled to something behind her. Since she hadn’t heard anyone behind her, nor should there be someone behind her in her apartment. Kate had a feeling she knew exactly who it was, her lips quirked into an excited grin. It’s confirmed when Lucky immediately runs over to Yelena when he feels Kate’s attention turned.
Yelena clicked her tongue at her girlfriend as she pet the one-eyed golden retriever, “Too long моя любовь.”
Kate groaned and turned around to face her. “When did you get here? What’s that?” Kate frowned at whatever was currently squirming in Yelena’s other hand not petting Lucky.
Yelena shook her head with a laugh as Lucky started sniffing the squirming guinea pig. “Guinea pig, needed a new home.”
“So I’m guessing we’re adopting it then?” Kate asked, her smile softening as moved closer to inspect the new family member and her girlfriend. She took a deep breath, relief palpable at knowing Yelena was back home and safe.
“да,” Yelena stated with a grin, leaning her forehead against Kate’s in more of a formal greeting. She breathed in deeply, inhaling Kate’s scent of cherries and just the hint of sweat and pizza.
Kate let out a soft laugh before bringing her lips to Yelena’s, pulling her closer for a deeper kiss.
