PART 1

“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me,” Jessica Jones states under her breath, glaring at the Christmas lights currently decorating her apartment. She’d only been gone an hour – or maybe three hours with Matt – to come back and find her girlfriend humming along to the Christmas tunes on the radio as she finished putting up the lights on the tiny artificial tree and her apartment lit up by various Christmas lights throughout it. She’d told Darcy she didn’t decorate. Apparently, she’d taken up the mantle to decorate for her.

Darcy grins up at them once she noticed she wasn’t alone.

PART 2

Matt Murdock just grins at Darcy, already enjoying the tension between the girlfriends, knowing it’ll just annoy Jessica more if he sides with the other woman. He could hear the huff of agitation of Jessica as she takes in the view of her apartment. He may not be able to see the Christmas lights around them, but he can feel the difference in the apartment, much like he could when Darcy moved in. It was almost like she brought life back into Jessica. He’d been happy for her, if only a little bit envious of their relationship.

“Looks good Darcy.”

PART 3

“I know it’s not really your thing, but since this is our first Christmas together,” Darcy starts as she takes in the agitated look of her girlfriend, her face heats up in embarrassment as Matt continues to grin at her. “I really love Christmas; I figured I could just do some Christmas lights to make it more festive.”

Jessica stays silent as she takes in the lights and tree, and Darcy bites her lip in momentary bout of fear at her reaction. Darcy knew Jessica probably wouldn’t like what she did, but she had a feeling she wouldn’t actually care.

PART 4

“There’s no purple lights.” Jessica states, her voice just barely heard over the soft Christmas music from the radio but the other two hear her.

Matt hears the twinge of awe lacing Jessica’s words, and his grin softens, knowing how much Jessica hated the color – if only for the man that tainted her world.

“What? Oh that!” Darcy lets out a relieved laugh as she takes in her girlfriend’s suddenly relaxed stance, “Of course not. I switched all the bulbs out for the different colors – it took forever but I managed to switch out all the lights.”

“I love it.”

THE END.
