MCU: Bucky/Wanda: "Quietness of the Moonlight"
Title: Quietness of the Moonlight
Fandoms: MCU - WandaVision
Pairings: implied Bucky/Wanda, Wanda/Vision
Rating: General
Warnings/Spoilers: Post Avengers Endgame. AU!WandaVision.
Summary: Bucky follows Wanda to Westview.
Notes: Written for [community profile] mcu100 prompt moon and [community profile] 100fandoms prompt swing. Honestly I just wanted to write a Bucky/Wanda fic, but instead it came out more gen than I wanted but maybe next time? The last part wasn't written for the community - mostly written it as a pre-Bucky/Wanda tag? Also yes the title is definitely for that AO3 ABC Fic Title Meme that's going around right now. I apparently didn't have a "Q".

Part 1

The moonlight lit the backyard with enough light that he didn’t have any trouble seeing the redhead in the swing. Bucky’s not sure why he’s here exactly, it’s not like they were completely close even when they were on the same side, but he feels oddly adrift now that Steve’s gone. Knows that she must be feeling the same, only not just for Steve but Vision (her brother, parents) and he doesn’t want to be alone. Doesn’t think she would want to be either, despite the fact that she refused Clint’s invitation. Or she wouldn’t have let him tag along.

Part 2

Wanda stared blankly up at him as he approached her, the moonlight bright enough for her see his concern and his tension in his body, can even hear his metal arm whirl slightly in the wind as if he was tensing up for a fight. She doesn’t have it in her to comfort him right now, knows he’s hurting as much as she is, but it’s too much – but she’s glad he’s here – with her. She’s not sure how she would have reacted if she had come here alone. To this empty lot that would’ve been theirs in another life.

Part 3

In the end it still overwhelms her, breaking down in the middle of the moonlit empty lot – the chaos, the grief – everything. Everything hits her, and her powers activate on their own accord – at her will for them to live. And suddenly Vision is before her, and everything is in black and white, just like the old shows she loved watching as a kid. She’d become a sitcom and if she didn’t think too hard she can forget the truth and Vision hadn’t died, they had gotten married and were going live here together, but then her eyes meet blue.

Part 4

He’d never felt her magic on him like this before, they only fought alongside one another at the airport, although Steve had mentioned his first meeting with her and how easy she had gotten into people’s head. His own head had been ripped open so many times, his was probably child’s play for her and unlike with Hydra or hell the un-brainwashing even, this was subtle – almost like a caress.

He hadn’t expected this, didn’t know she was this powerful – this extraordinary. This sudden black and white reality they find themselves, the moon gone since a house constructed around them…

Part 5

He pulled her away into the backyard, despite the (fake?) Vision’s polite protests, and once bathed in the moonlight, this time lit in a black and white colored world. And he’s struck with how beautiful she is, her hair styled almost like the women that would back in his time, even her outfit had changed, as had his, although his outfit was better looking than anything he ever owned.

“What did you do?” His voice his rough, and he can feel the slight harshness of it. The caress of her magic in his head tells him this wasn’t supposed right.

Part 6

Wanda closes her eyes against his bright blue ones lit by the moon, the harshness of his words expected, and she can feel the magic coursing in his head, with it being displeased with his words and her wishes. She knows what he wants her to admit to, knows he wants her to turn it off – but she has Vision back. Doesn’t he understand? She’s not quite sure how this came to be, but she doesn’t care. She’s not going to lose this second chance.

“You can leave if you want to, but I’m staying.”

“I’m not leaving you alone.”

Part 7

He’s there with her till the end, with just a splash of her magic in his head – not controlling, not like with what she did to the others, but more like a silent passenger that tended to alert him to the various stresses that appeared within the hex (both trying to stop it and one that tried to take control). Bucky stays with her even with the jumps through ‘time’, mostly to try to get her to see reason – through the denial that she surrounded them with. But also to protect her, her boys and it hurts letting them go.

THE END.

Ah! I loved this so much. Bucky wanting to stay with her and protect her. This is lovely slow-burn. Wanda's hurt and giving him the option to leave, but when he doesn't she still leave's him with his control. Bucky wanting to try and get her to reason, but also not trying to minimize her grief. Also the idea of Bucky getting to know and liking Tommy and Billy and being just as hurt when they are taken away T^T.

I know right?!?!? I was breaking my own heart for Bucky - he would be so amazing with the boys. ♥ I want to make more of him and Wanda, I don't know why but it's just been tugging at my heart lately.

Thank you! ♥
