xmen100 prompt Magma,
100ships prompt flame,
fivebyfiction prompt Phoenix,
uc_xmen drabble-a-thon prompt "X-Men Evolution - Amara/Jean - Phoenix, kissed by fire". So I've been interested in this pairing since the last time I rewatched XME ages ago, and I've been wanting to write for them since I don't think pairing really exists? I did make fanart for them ages ago but I haven't seen anything else. Also not sure if they really interacted in the comics so I'm not sure how Amara's abilities would work with/against the Phoenix but meh this is fanon anyway. I kinda want to write more, not going to lie - not sure if I will.

PART 1
The flames licked her feet, but Amara didn’t seem to notice – all she could focus on was Jean. The flames were no consequence to her and seemed to even let her closer compared to the others had been. She’s not quite sure if it was her powers working for her, or if Jean was subconsciously letting her in closer, all she cared about was reaching her girlfriend’s side. They still don’t quite understand everything with this Phoenix Force that seemed to have saved her life, nor the amount of power it contains – it seems unlimited and terrifying – but Jean’s alive.
PART 2
She touches Jean’s face once she’s close enough, bringing Jean’s attention to her and even through the tears and amount of flames that licked at both of them Amara couldn’t help but feel love and relief. Despite the destruction surrounding them, and Jean’s apparent lack of control of these Phoenix powers, all that mattered to Amara right now was that Jean was alive and well.
“Amara,” the whisper was choked on tears but it was beautiful to her ears, Jean was beautiful – even more gorgeous even with the flames surrounding her. “You’re okay?”
“What’s a little fire and heat hurt?”
PART 3
Amara’s lips quirked in triumph as Jean let out a startled laugh, and moved even closer to her and enveloped her much taller girlfriend into an embrace. Jean immediately wrapped her arms around Amara, bringing her even closer. Even with most of her focus on Jean, Amara noticed the flames surrounding them became smaller… quieter even. It was as if everyone one else was on another plane of existence and all there was – or will be – them.
Amara brushed her lips against Jean’s softly, who quickly deepened it before pulling away only enough to speak. “I thought I lost you.”
PART 4
“I thought I lost you,” Amara admitted softly, kissing Jean deeply again – desperate to feel her lips again. She doesn’t think she would ever get tired of the feeling of them, doesn’t want to.
“I don’t think that’s possible,” Jean confessed quietly, the flames around them finally put out. She glanced around at the destruction and grimaced at her lack of control. With Amara in her arms, and her emotions under control once again, she felt disgust at her past actions. Sometimes when the Phoenix took over, it didn’t always care about anyone or anything else.
“What do you mean?”
PART 5
“What do you mean you think you died?” Amara’s astonished voice creeping higher than she wanted; she tightened her grip on her girlfriend to reassure herself that Jean was still alive. “Why do you think you can’t die now?”
“I’m pretty sure I died up there on the space shuttle,” Jean stated – her memories of the radiation poisoning was awful – she doesn’t expect to ever forget it. Nor could she ever forget the memory of touching the cosmic being that saved her. Glancing down at her exposed arms, she saw nothing that would showcase the injuries that should be there.
PART 6
“I’m not hurt, Amara. I should be in a coma or something right now, instead I’m completely healed. The Phoenix Force was able to heal me or maybe resurrect me? I was able to travel through space – without a space suit or spacecraft. I’m alive because of it,” Jean explained as much as could. The Phoenix didn’t explain much before taking over control… would it even explain? All that mattered to her right now was that Amara was safe, the X-Men was safe, and so was the rest of the city (minus a few buildings). “Can we go home now?”
THE END... FOR NOW?
