Hermione chuckled softly at Scott’s look of surprise. Apparently the last thing he had expected for her to say was that she was a witch. Out of everything he’s seen in his life, the last thing she thought would surprise him would be that she was a witch… But Hermione guessed he just figured they were just old stories that weren’t true. She could understand, in a way, why he would believe it so since he’s seen so much he wanted something to still be fantasy.

“Are you sure you’re not a mu-“

Hermione nodded and cut him off, “Trust me, Scott. I’m not a mutant.”

“Alright,” Scott stated softly and studied the woman before him. She was a short, barely reached his shoulders and was beautiful… but not in the superficial way. She didn’t have perfect hair (it was more wild and curly than he had ever seen, but it complimented her face greatly) nor had the most fashionable clothes on (something he had only had known because of Jubilee’s earlier comments). She didn’t look like a witch from what stories and movies made them out to be. No green skin or pimples or moles. She only had a few freckles that graced her cheeks and nose and eyes that held knowledge and pain. She had a body that was healthy looking, she wasn’t skin and bones but nor did she have curves in all the right ways. If he had been anyone else, he knew that guys probably wouldn’t find her attractive that much. But he did, and he hadn’t felt this way since Jean. Hermione Granger was beautiful…

Hermione smiled softly, “I know it’s probably a lot to handle, but well, I was kind of asked to be here to help out the Xavier Institute and I wanted everything out in the open so that it wouldn’t backfire on me later.”

“Who sent you to us?” Scott asked, his voice had an edge to it that Hermione couldn’t help but smile at. She was glad that he had the sense to be suspicious.

“Charles Xavier actually requested my help a few months before his death.” Hermione’s smile disappeared at the thought of the death of someone her parents had trusted deeply. “He had hoped that I would be able to put up protective wards around the mansion and surrounding area so that what happened last year wouldn’t happen again. But I couldn’t get away for a long time… I had to finish teaching and wait for the summer vacation to be able to get away. I just heard about his death this past week, and I’ve done everything I could to get here as quickly as I could.”

“Then I guess, you haven’t heard then,” Scott stated causing Hermione to look up at him in confusion.

“Heard what?”

“Charles is alive.” Hermione gasped in shock.

“How?”

“I’ll take him to you, it’ll be better if he explains it himself.” Scott said with a soft smile.
