Christmas always sucked, even if it was nice having Sam back with him for the holidays. It was nice to be with family, and since Sammy was his only family – well, it was better than nice.

Still, the holiday lacked the magic for him that it did for children and some adults… the hunts and creatures taught him that. And this year’s holiday sucked big, because there was no Jo… no Ellen… to be with – to have drinks with and chat and flirt with.

So waking up from a dream where he was surrounded by a pregnant Jo, and two tikes – both looking like a combination of him and Jo, with Ellen, Bobby, and Sam with them singing Christmas carols? It hurt a lot harder than it would have a month ago.

Had he and Sam not got them involved with that hunt, would they have lived? Would he have been able to live and won the apocalypse? Would what he saw in his dream come true?

He knew wishing was what fools did, but he couldn’t help himself. Ellen and Jo didn’t have to die, not for them... Not for him.
