fivebyfiction prompt Fairy Godmother. I thought this was an adorable little story and I hope you all like it. The fairy tale Hermione tells her daughter is Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine, which is one of my favorite fairy tales.

“Ella had a fairy godmother, but she couldn’t break Lucinda’s curse. Ella’s mother asked her to take away the curse, but her fairy godmother said it could only be removed by Lucinda. So Ella had to live with it; the curse of obedience.” Hermione explained softly to her daughter, who listened closely to each word her mother spoke as she squeezed her stuffed puppy to her.
“That’s horrible!” Catherine ‘Cat’ Winchester cried out, Hermione nodded her head in agreement.
“It is; she had to do everything someone directly commanded her to do. She had to hop on one foot for a day and a half if someone commanded her to do that. Or if she was commanded to, hurt her self very seriously.” Hermione explained as she brushed Cat’s bangs out of her face.
“Does she ever find Lucinda and make her fix her curse?” Cat questioned, squeezing her puppy in anticipation.
Both Sam and Hermione let out a laugh “Are you going to let your mom finish the story or should we just tell you the ending?”
“No! Tell me what happens! Please!” Cat begged, giving her mom her own ‘puppy eyes’ which she received from Sam.
Hermione let out another laugh, “Of course I’ll tell you what happens - it’s the best way to hear a fairy tale. Not short cuts or movies,” Hermione explained to her daughter who nodded in agreement.
“I know mom, its best when you or dad tells it. It’s never fun to watch it… doesn’t make it as magical when you guys tell it.” Cat stated, cuddling more beside her mother. Hermione smiled softly at the compliment, and glanced over to her husband as he squeezed her hand. He grinned at her, which she returned with one of her own before continuing the story.
Half hour later, Cat was half asleep although was desperately wanted to stay awake to finish the fairy tale. Hermione smiled proudly down at her, before gently whispered the ending of the story. “Her love for the Char broke the curse Ella had, and a month later she and Char were married. They lived happily ever after… Now go to sleep Cat,”
Hermione heard a light snore as an answer, which caused her to smile. She leaned down to kiss Cat’s forehead before leaning over her to give her love a good night kiss as well. Sam smiled proudly as he hugged the two women he loved more then anything closer to him before settling down to sleep as well.
