Summary: Barney thinks about what he's done.
Notes: Written for tv_100 prompt lies. Not really satisfied with this... but I'll hopefully get around to writing a much better B/R fanfic.

He had lied because he knew he could never be the guy she would want. He’s been living and acting how he is for years. He was good at it as well, and he doubted he could change his ways. He wanted to, he really did, but the sight of her giving a different woman to him broke his resolve to change…

(At least for that night anyway!)

She wanted the old Barney back all throught out the dinner – and yes he wanted to make retorts to her comments about her day, but he wanted her to see him changed more. However, Lily’s plan didn’t work… and Robin ended up handing him a woman in thanks for the cheer-up. Which was a rather hard blow for him and he ended up sleeping with the woman.

Poor Sad!Barney. I think that deep down, he's still screwed up from Shannon and that's affecting him now. He's insecure and thinks Robin won't like him for the way he is. I blame Shannon, probably like most Barney/Robin shippers.
