Smallville/X-Men: Oliver/Rogue: "Drawing by Music"
Title: Drawing by Music
Fandoms: Smallville and X-Men
Pairings: Rogue/Green Arrow, hints of Lois/Oliver
Rating: G
Warnings/Spoilers: AU.
Summary: "I always used to draw. It helped me to clear my thoughts."
Notes: Requested by
brokengem. Written for
galorechallenge prompt Rogue/Oliver - thanks & crush. Inspired by the song Dragula by Rob Zombie. I hope to write more for this pairing!
“Dead I am the one, Exterminating son,
Slipping through the trees, strangling the breeze,
Dead I am the sky, watching angels cry,
while they slowly turn, conquering the worm…”
Rogue sung along, beating her head along with the song’s beat, as she slowly sketched in her book. She pored herself into the sketch as she sang along.
She didn’t usually draw, but she had been bored, and well she was quite jealous of the woman in the other room. She felt stupid for feeling it… he wasn’t hers by any means. And the woman in the other room wasn’t his either… but they had a history together, and they still seemed like they had a thing for each other - at least in Rogue’s eyes. So Rogue couldn’t help but feel jealousy, she wanted to be Lois at the moment. At least Lois could touch Oliver without hurting him.
Oliver Queen opened the door to his roommate and leaned against the door frame as he watched Rogue draw as she sang. You could barely hear her with the music so loud, but either way his mouth moved into a shape of a genuine smile. He loved these moments where it was just her and him… or really him watching her silently without her knowing. He loved seeing her at ease and without her gloves on. He wished he could help her, but so far nothing he tried had worked in getting her powers controlled. Oliver was clueless in what to do next, but he wouldn’t give up. She came to mean a lot to him and he didn’t want her to hurt any longer.
As the song ended and switched over to a slower song by A Fine Frenzy, Rogue sighed and stilled in her work. Oliver decided to cheer her up then, it was obvious she was upset over something and he didn’t want her to feel sad any more.
“Hey,” Oliver stated, moving closer to her. Rogue glanced over to him and smiled. She moved towards her night table and turned the music down slightly.
“Sorry about that,” Rogue apologized with a small smile.
“It’s fine, it was a really good song; I just wanted to see what you were doing.” Oliver stated sitting down on the bed, and Rogue smiled. She handed him her sketch, careful not to touch his skin. After he took it, she quickly grabbed her gloves from next to her and put them on. She knew he wouldn’t touch her, but she liked to be careful.
Oliver studied the beautiful sketch of an angel crying. The drawing was beautiful, but he couldn’t help but frown a little. He wanted to know why the angel was crying. It was clear that Rogue hadn’t finished the sketch as there was another person or something that had already been started.
Rogue took his frown as a bad thing. “I know, it sucks, but--”
“No, no, it doesn’t suck.” Oliver interrupted her, looking back to her. “Its beautiful, it’s just… well… sad.”
Rogue glanced towards the drawing and nodded gently in understanding. “Yeah…”
“I didn’t know you could draw,” Oliver stated, handing over the book to her.
“I always used to draw. It helped me to clear my thoughts.” Rogue explained, and Oliver nodded in understanding.
“So pretty much how archery is to me, drawing is to you.” Oliver stated, smiling. Rogue nodded her head with a grin.
“Except I’m not very good at my art work,” Rogue stated, shrugging her shoulders.
Oliver’s eyes widened, “Are you kidding? I think I would pay like a million dollars for that sketch. It’s beautiful, Rogue. You draw like a professional.”
Rogue let out a nervous laugh at that, “Thanks Ollie.”
Oliver smiled, taking hold of her hand. “Your welcome, Rogue.”
THE END.
