PART 1
“Thought you quit,” Jessica Jones’ quiet voice was rough from disuse, although it didn’t startle him, having heard her coming long before she reached the lit-up rooftop.
Matt Murdock sat on the roof, keeping an ear out for anyone looking for help and the other to listen to her calming heartbeat. He hadn’t quite heard much of it lately, as he rarely needed another private investigator since they had Cherry.
“I tried, didn’t stick.” Matt managed to state, and he tried to toss a smirk over to her only to have her scoff at him.
“No shit, dumbass. I heard.”
PART 2
“If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you were a fucking cat,” Jessica stated, as she leaned against the roof’s edge. She couldn’t hear as far him, but she could at least enjoy the lights even if most of the time she hated this time of year.
“Cat?” Matt questioned grinning in amusement.
“You know, a cat has nine lives? How many close calls have you been through again?” Jessica asked half-heartedly. She knew the answer, and so did he.
He sighed heavily and leaned closer to her. “I’m fine, Jess.”
“Fucking better be, asshole” Jessica grumbled into him.
THE END.
